Everyone’s Invited

Kalamazoo Choppers has changed locations and you are all invited to check out our new digs! We have moved to 9820 Portage Road, between Blanchard Paint & Auto Body and Earthworks. The last couple of months we have been busy with construction, electrical work, plumbing and just plain moving and organizing. It has all paid off and our new place has become an even more amazing bike shop!

We want to thank everyone for all their patience as we transition and want to extend an open invitation to come see our new place. Read the rest of this entry »

Carburetors vs. Fuel Injection

First of all let me start out by saying I HATE fuel injection. Yes, there are a lot of benefits to fuel injection. For instance, lately here in Michigan it has been 100 degrees and 90 plus humidity. Fuel injection can compensate for these conditions. Also it can compensate for elevation levels, which are pretty much the same thing. High humidity and high elevation both mean less oxygen in the air. If you want to spend a lot of money, you can tune fuel injection very specifically for the conditions in which you live and ride.

Charity Ride for Deke Coopes

A charity ride and pig roast is being held for Deke Coopes and family on July 9, 2011. Deke was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer last November. Supporting him are his wife and three children. Deke’s strength persists, but he needs our help.

On Saturday, July 9th at 11:00am we will meet at Kalamazoo Choppers, 6740 Lovers Lane, Portage, MI, 49002. Cost to ride is $20 per person. Ride will go through Portage and surrounding areas, ending up at Playtime Billiards, located at 7141 South Westnedge, Portage, MI 49002. After arriving at Playtime, we will have a pig roast along with great music and raffle prizes.

Any questions or for more information on how to donate to the family, please contact Kalamazoo Choppers at (269) 321-0257.

Open House 2011

Yesterday was our 8th Annual Open House here at Kalamazoo Choppers and it was a great success! Thanks to all that made it out to the shop and took advantage of our rock bottom deals. Most people left with new $5 shirts on their backs, along with never seen prices of 10% below our cost on most in stock items.

Stretched Chopper Frames

I have ridden every kind of bike Harley Davidson makes. I am 6’1″ and I feel too big for all of their bikes, even the ultra. Seat position and handle bars help a little, but not enough. It just cracks me up to see some guy thats too big for his bike. Like a big fat clown on a moped. Big guys need a big bike.

Custom Harley-Davidson

Kalamazoo Choppers IS custom Harley-Davidson. Let’s just be honest here. Harley-Davidson is the original. The First. and the one that everyone else copies. We think it is pretty cool that someone can buy a Harley-Davidson and make that bike fit them, (aka Custom).

Why we’re the best.

I remember when I went to MMI (Motorcycle Mechanics Institute). The very first class, we had to write down our goals. My goal was to own my own shop someday. Everyone laughed even my instructors. The thing that those people didn’t understand is that I always reach my goals no matter what they are. Everything I’ve ever done in my life, I have become the best at and continue to be the best at what I do. Now, I have a cool bad ass shop. So what’s the next step? The next step is to dominate the market in michigan. Read the rest of this entry »

Stretched Frames

In my bio I talk about why I love making frames longer and bigger and why this is my passion. I can modify just about any big twin frame and sportster frames from 86-03. I am really only interested in doing unique and different styles. Simplicity is cool but it has to be unique.

Rolling Chassis

I love building frames so its only obvious I would want to turn my frame into a vision. It takes the right eye to know what gas tank, handle bars, fenders and stuff fits the style frame we are using. I would like to think of our style as “vast” so in other words, we know what’s cool.
